Get Inside Your Reader’s Heads (Content Planning for Q2)

Ever wonder why readers think about your book long before making a purchase? We often imagine them standing in a bookstore with your book in hand debating whether to spend the money.

But really they're quietly contemplating personal struggles, seeking understanding, and needing immediate help.

This is why I’m launching a new podcast miniseries called “Get Inside Your Reader's Heads.” By stepping into their mindset, you'll plan content that speaks directly to them in this season.

Don’t guess at what your readers need to hear when marketing your book. You know their struggles best. By stepping into their mindset, you'll plan content that speaks directly to them in this season. Plus learn how to promote your book in ways that help readers serve and share with others too.

Reading the Room for Q2

As we shift into the second quarter, we need to plan for the unique emotions and events like Easter, Spring, Mother's Day, graduations, and more. These shape what we and our readers are feeling and needing in this season.

To build the trust readers need before they buy our books, we need to enter the conversations they are already having, whether in their own minds or over coffee with friends.

This isn’t just marketing jargon. It's genuinely showing you care about your readers. You wrote your book to help them, and understanding their needs begins with reading the room, whether you're a podcast host or guest.

The 3S Method

Creating targeted content is key. When crafting your topics and talking points, use the 3S Method: Struggle, Support, Showing Up.

1. Struggle: What struggle is your target reader carrying this quarter?

2. Support: How is your reader supporting loved ones through this struggle?

3. Showing Up: How is your reader showing up for others with this struggle (friends, coworkers, those they serve)?

With this method, your content becomes more than words; it becomes relatable, timely, and useful, leading to your book and message being shared and remembered. 🥳

Planning Podcast Content Strategically

The further ahead you can plan the better to meet your readers struggles head on.

This series covers Q2: April, May, June. If you've already batched your content as a podcast host, or agreed upon topics as a podcast guest, no worries. You can always add in pop-up bonus episodes on your show, and seasonal talking points to your interview.

We'll explore how to step inside your readers heads, craft content that meets them where they are, and share how your message and book are the resource they need this quarter.

Stay tuned as next episode we're diving into the month of April. A month that looks like fresh starts and blooming flowers … but often feels more like tired sighs and unfinished goals. 😩
